Addressing the water issue of rainfed/limited irrigated semiarid agriculture in New Mexico through innovative solutions of cropping systems, crop selection, and alternative water sources (specifically, treated municipal wastewater) is critical to achieve maximum productivity and sustainability in these environments.


Beef Herd Improvement

The Tucumcari Feed Efficiency Test, LLC (TFET) conducts the annual Tucumcari Bull Test and other feed efficiency tests to encourage beef cattle herd improvement. Researchers also host events to help youth and experienced producers learn about New Mexico’s beef industry, including production management, and develop skills to prepare them for the industry, thereby, strengthening New Mexico’s beef cattle industry.
